Kathmandu, January 11
Medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC reiterates that Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli should immediately resign as the judiciary under his leadership cannot launch any independent and fair investigation.
Dr KC issued a statement a day before he was released by the Supreme Court to argue that the Court order yesterday justified his demand for the CJ’s resignation.
Whereas the division bench of justices Purushottam Bhandari and Bam Kumar Shrestha ordered the release of contempt of court accused Dr KC without bail yesterday, the bench also told the apex court to furnish it with copies of citizenship certificate and documents related to academic qualifications of Chief Justice Parajuli.
Dr KC, while accusing the head of the judiciary of being corrupt, had also told the bench that Parajuli’s papers were suspicious as he was accused of forging the citizenship certificate and academic papers earlier too.
Meanwhile, the veteran orthopaedic surgeon said he would continue his fast-unto-death till his demands are met.
