Kathmandu, October 31

The CPN-Maoist Centre’s youth wing, Young Communist League, has said the arrest of murder convict Bal Krishna Dhungel is a conspiracy plotted to foil upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections.

Issuing a statement a couple of hours after Dhungel’s arrest, YCL Chairman Ram Prasad Sapkota ‘Deepshikha’ and General Secretary Subodh Raj Sherpali say the arrest violates the Comprehensive Peace Accord that has a provision of settling conflict-era issues through Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Objecting to the arrest, the organisation has also warned that it will also file cases against leaders of other political parties, namely Nepali Congress and Rastriya Prajatantra Party, in connection to cases of the dacade-long armed conflict if Dhungel is not released.
