Kathmandu, February 21

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee, which is more powerful than the Central Working Committee.

The meeting will take place at the party’s central office in Sanepa of Lalitpur at 9 pm Thursday, according to the office’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel. There are 29 members in the Committee.

It is expected that the meeting will discuss how the party will take the role of main opposition as the President has already summoned the first session of Federal Parliament from March first week.

The party is yet to elect its parliamentary party leader who will be crucial in formulating its strategies in the House. So far, Deuba and former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh have shown interests in the position.
