Dahal to Bhattarai: Withdraw candidacy if you want to save yourself

Gorkha, November 15

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has suggested that former prime minister and Naya Shakti Party Nepal Chief Baburam Bhattarai withdraw his nomination for the House of Representatives seat from Gorkha-2 if he wants to save his position in Nepali politics.

The leader even calls his former comrade to come back to the Maoist Centre. Just on Tuesday, Bhattarai had said Dahal would follow his path one day as he was already disillusioned that the communist dreams would not be fulfilled.

Dahal’s party has fielded its second-in-command leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha in the constituency against Bhattarai as the joint candidate of CPN-UML and Maoist Centre. A mass assembly was organised as a part of Shrestha’s electioneering in Gorkha today, which Dahal and his UML counterpart KP Sharma Oli addressed.

“Please give up the candidacy. Accept that it was your mistake to leave the Maoist party and movement and Prachanda’s company,” Dahal said, “I am ready to welcome you back.”

Claiming that Bhattawai wanted to replicate the model of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party in Nepal, Dahal predicted he would fail.

“Nepal is not Delhi. Gorkha is not Delhi. Neither are you another Kejriwal. I wonder why you are after this thing that you cannot achieve?”
