Dahal: One-on-one meeting with Oli positive, Maoists in Cabinet soon

UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal during a lunch meeting, in Kathmandu, on Sunday, February 18, 2018.

Kathmandu, February 19

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says his recent one-on-one meeting with the CPN-UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has concluded positively and the two parties are closer towards the proposed unification.

Therefore, the Maoist party will join the Oli-led government very soon though it had earlier begun discussions about supporting the government from outside, according to him.

Briefing top leaders of his party about the meeting with Oli held yesterday, Dahal said the inter-party Party Unification Coordination Committee would hold its meeting on Monday and it might come up with a concrete agreement for the unification.

“After there was no understanding last week, we even began discussing whether to support the government from the floor. But, the Chairman now says things are positive and it will conclude today.”

Earlier, when Oli took the oath and formed his Cabinet on Thursday, the Maoist Centre had refused to send its representatives to the government demanding that issues about the unification be settled first.
