Kathmandu, December 5

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the Election Commission on why it cancelled the candidacy of CPN-Maoist Centre candidate for House of Representatives elections in Sarlahi-4, Shiva Pujan Raya  Yadav.

Earlier, the Commission had cancelled the leftist alliance’s candidate‘s nomination citing he was not qualified to contest the polls as he was convicted of misusing his diplomatic passport around two and half years ago by the Special Court. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly then.

However, Yadav had challenged the decision at the court.

A single bench of Justice Deepak Raj Joshi has also called the defendant to attend the hearing tomorrow to discuss whether to issue an interim order as demanded by the petitioner.

The elections are scheduled for Thursday.
