Kathmandu, October 6
The Nepali Congress is unlikely to give candidacy tickets for upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections to those who lost recently held local level polls.
Party’s General Secretary Shashanka Koirala presented a draft of criteria for the candidacy during the Central Working Committee meeting held in Kathmandu today.
According to Koirala’s proposal, current lawmakers who were elected under the proportional representation category should not be included in the closed list of proportional representation category.
If Koirala’s proposal is endorsed as it is, many of the names recommended from district committees will be rejected.
Meanwhile, the party says it will finalise the name of candidates within next five days.
