Commission corrects turnout estimate, says 77 per cent votes cast in Province 2

The Election Commission has corrected its primary estimate of turnout of voters during the third phase of local level elections held yesterday, claiming around 77 per cent voters used their democratic right in eight districts of Province 2.

The constitutional body had said the turnout was around 73 per cent as soon as the voting concluded yesterday.

The Joint Election Operation Centre at the Commission says 76.4 per cent votes were cast in Saptari district. Likewise, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari and Sarlahi saw the turnout of 77.4 per cent, 73.6 per cent, 73.3 per cent and 76.3 per cent respectively.

Total 79.4 per cent votes have been cast in Bara whereas it is 80.4 and 80.1 in Rautahat and Parsa respectively.

The turnout in the first and second phases of local level elections had stood below 74 per cent.
