CK Raut arrested, a fortnight after making secessionist remarks

Kathmandu, February 2

Police have arrested CK Raut, who has been launching a free Madhesh campaign. A police team raided a room close to Machha Bazaar in Janakpur on Thursday afternoon and took Raut under control.

Raut, who originally hails from Siraha district, had been living in Janakpur.

About a fortnight ago, Raut had addressed a mass gathering in Siraha district headquarters Lahan and given ‘secessionist remarks’.

After that, Siraha district police office issued an arrest warrant against Raut. Dhanusha police said they are preparing to send Raut to Siraha. A source said preparations are afoot to file a court case against Raut on the charge of revolt.

For filing this case, Raut will have to be brought to the Kathmandu district court.

Raut has faced a similar case in the special court. In that case, the court had released him on bail.
