Budget should make people feel change: Maoist Centre

A meeting of the CPN-Maoist Centre Parliamentary Party, in Kathmandu, on Monday, May 7, 2018.

Kathmandu, May 7

Ruling coalition partner CPN-Maoist Centre says the annual budget statement for next fiscal year 2018/19 should make people feel change and it should not be traditional.

The party held a meeting of its Parliamentary Party today to extend suggestions to the government on the budget as the Ministry of Finance has already expedited preparations to give a final shape to the document.

Lawmakers have suggested that party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal take up the party’s expectations from the budget to the Prime Minister’s party, CPN-UML.

The Maoist Centre lawmakers say the budget should prioritise infrastructural development activities and reflect the party’s election manifesto.

Ministers representing the party to the Cabinet–Ram Bahadur Thapa, Barsha Man Pun, Bina Magar, Ram Kumari Chaudhary–among other leaders had aired their views about contemporary issues at the meeting.

Meanwhile, the meeting will resume at 8 am tomorrow, when Dahal will respond to concerns raised by lawmakers, according to his press advisor Bishnu Sapkota.
