Bolivian, Thai nationals held with 2 kg cocaine from Thamel hotel

Kathmandu, January 19

Police in Kathmandu say they have arrested two foreigners–one Bolivian and another Thai–in possession of 1 kg and 958 gram cocaine from a hotel in Thamel of Kathmandu recently.

A team mobilised from the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police arrested them from the hotel, informs NCB Chief DIG Thule Rai.

Rai says one was selling the contraband to another when they were arrested. It has been suspected that both were members of an international drug racket.

Recent police investigations have concluded that international drug smugglers are using Nepal as a transit to illegally suppy the contraband to third countries after they are brought here from Bolivia via Brazil, Ethiopia and India.

Further investigation is underway.
