‘Big’ landslide obstructs Narayangadh-Muglin road

Chitwan, July 10

A landslide following incessant rainfall has obstructed the Narayangadh-Muglin road in Chitwan district.

According to Chief at the Chitwan District Police Office, SP Sushil Singh Thakur, the ‘big’ landslide at Ghumaune obstructed the road section at 3:45 am on Tuesday.

Continuous rainfall is creating difficulties to remove the debris, he informed.

“We will start removing the debris once the precipitation intensity decreases. Police have reached the incident site along with project officials and required equipment,” said Thakur. “The traffic might resume after 12:00 pm.”

Similarly, small landslides in various other places including Jalabire, and Tope Khola along the road section have also halted the  transportation.

Passengers have been stranded since last night as the obstructions have created traffic jams that last for around 10 hours to clear.

The project officials have asked the general public to use alternative routes for movement.
