Bibeksheel Sajha to advocate for directly elected executive PM

Kathmandu, November 9

The newly established Bibeksheel Sajha Party says it will advocate to establish a directly elected executive prime ministerial system as the form of governance in Nepal.

The party has stated its choice in its manifesto prepared for upcoming provincial and federal parliamentary elections.

The manifesto will be made public tomorrow.

“As the parliamentary system of Westminster model has invited various malpractices including unstable government and unnatural coalitions,” the manifesto reads, “The party’s conclusion is that the directive elected executive presidential system will be appropriate.”

The party has stated that national unity should be strengthened, but the agenda of nationalism should not be used to push the country towards polarisation.

The party says it is ready to amend the constitution to address various political issues raised by Madheshis, Tharus and Janajatis.

The party promises to take the country to the status of middle income within next 20 years.
