AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers: Nepal lose opening match to Kyrgyzstan

Nepal faced a 0-2 defeat to Kyrgyzstan in the opening match held under the 2018 AFC U-19 Championship Qualifiers.

In the match held at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium at Bishkek, Nepal conceded the first goal in the 21st minute and the second one in the additional time in the second half from the host country.

The host team took the lead with Gulzhigit Borubaev hitting the goalpost and it was Alimardon Shukuriv who contributed one more goal to his team in the additional time of the second half.

With this win, the the Kyrgyzstan team collected three points.

Nepal remaining in the group ‘A’ of the match will meet Bahrain on Thursday for the second match. Host country Kyrgyzstan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are in the group ‘A’.

Teams playing the qualification round have been divided in 10 groups and a team coming atop the respective group chart will be eligible for competing in the championship.

Likewise, top five teams among the first runner-ups and the host country will also be selected for the final.
