Kathmandu, January 8
Bikash Lama scored in the final minutes of the game to give Friends Club an unlikely victory over champions Manang Marsyangdi Club during their final match of the Martyrs’ Memorial ‘A’ Division League on Tuesday.
The MMC had earned all possible 36 points after winning all 12 matches of the league this season.
The MMC had already clinched the title after beating rivals Sankata with two games to go; but lost to the 11th placed Friends Club by conceding in the 97th minute today.
The MMC were undone by a late setpiece where Lama jumped the highest to head the ball in the back of the net.
With this, the MMC lost the opportunity to create history by winning all 13 games in a season.
