5 injured, 9 detained as party cadres clash at Bajhang vote counting venue

Bajhang, June 29

At least five persons sustained injuries when cadres of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre clashed at the vote counting venue in Chhabispathibhera Rural Municipality of Bajhang district on Thursday.

Chief District Officer Kesh Bahadur Thapa said two UML candidates, two temporary police personnel and another person sustained injuries in the clash, in which some domestic weapons had also been used.

The injured have been taken to the District Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, nine persons have been detained for their alleged involvement in the violence.

UML leader Ain Mahar has accused Maoist lawmaker Janak Budha of attacking the UML cadres.

He says the party cadres, Subas Bhatta and Sagar Bhatta, have sustained critical injuries.
