Three rare birds spotted in Gorkha

Three rare birds belonging to the family of Accipitridae have been spotted in a community forest in Gorkha.

The White-rumped vulture; Asian wooly neck stork and steppe eagle were spotted in the Ludi Damgadhe Community Forest, home to around 99 species (found so far) of birds.

The forest is situated at Ahale of Gorkha municipality-8. During a seven-month long research conducted by Kushal Shrestha and his team, spiny babbler, a bird believed to be endemic to Nepal, was also spotted in the forest.

The other birds that were spotted are: collared falconet and lesser kestrel, both of which are endangered.

Nepal is home to 886 species of birds.
