17 Biplav’s cadres arrested after ban on party

Kathmandu, March 19

A total of 17 leaders and cadres of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ have been arrested by the police after the government banning its activities.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Uttam Raj Subedi, five including politburo member Mohan Karki were held in the Kathmandu Valley and were being prosecuted.

Subedi said Nepal Police has been keeping a close tab on the party activities and additional measures have been adopted for strengthening security.

Besides that, the government has also decided to take legal action against those having direct or indirect connections with the party.
